The Royal Grammar School Guildford Muscat (RGSGM) currently offers the Cambridge Lower Secondary curriculum, designed for students in Grades 6–8 (Years 7–9 in the British system). This internationally recognised programme builds strong academic foundations, promotes independent learning, and develops key skills in critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.

Our Lower Secondary curriculum is broad and balanced, ensuring that students experience a wide range of subjects, including English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Languages, and the Arts. Learning is active, engaging, and inquiry-driven, reflecting the RGS values of scholarship, integrity, and collaboration.

As students progress into Grade 9, their journey toward the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) begins. This marks an exciting new stage in their academic development, where we will carefully tailor each student’s pathway according to their individual strengths, interests, and future aspirations.

The IGCSE programme provides a rigorous and internationally recognised qualification that equips students with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Students will study a combination of core subjects—such as English Language, Mathematics, and the Sciences—alongside a range of elective options that reflect their emerging passions. The IGCSE pathway ensures both depth and breadth, preparing students for the advanced challenges of post-16 study.

AS and A Levels

The Cambridge Advanced stage (typically Grades 11–12 / Years 12–13) represents the pinnacle of school learning at RGSG Muscat. Students select from a range of AS and A Level subjects according to their academic goals, university aspirations, and personal interests.
The A Level curriculum is globally respected for its academic rigour and intellectual depth. It encourages students to think critically, research independently, and articulate complex ideas with clarity and confidence—skills that are essential for success at university and beyond.

At RGSG Muscat, our typical pathway will include three A Level subjects, complemented by opportunities for extended study and enrichment. Students may also pursue the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), which allows them to explore an area of personal interest through independent research—an excellent preparation for university-style learning.

Omani General Education Diploma (GED)

In line with our commitment to offering a curriculum that is both globally relevant and locally grounded, RGSG Muscat also plans to offer the Omani General Education Diploma (GED).
This qualification follows the standards set by the Oman Ministry of Education, providing students with a pathway that integrates national expectations with the high academic standards of the RGS learning experience. The GED programme will allow students to gain a recognised national qualification while continuing to benefit from the school’s English-medium instruction, inquiry-based learning, and focus on personal development.

The Omani GED pathway ensures that students who wish to continue their higher education within Oman—or across the GCC—are fully prepared and credentialed to do so, while maintaining the same emphasis on intellectual curiosity, cultural awareness, and lifelong learning that defines every RGS Muscat graduate.

Our Commitment

At RGSG Muscat, every stage of the learning journey—whether through Cambridge Lower Secondary, IGCSE, A Levels, or the Omani GED—is designed to help students discover their strengths, pursue their passions, and develop the confidence to thrive in an ever-changing world.
