Curious minds thrive through play and discovery.

The International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) is designed for young learners who learn best through play, exploration, and meaningful experiences.

In our KG, at RGSG Muscat, children are encouraged to wonder, investigate, and share ideas in a safe and caring environment that builds confidence and independence.

Our approach follows the natural curiosity of each child. Teachers guide learning through engaging topics called Units of Enquiry, where children explore big ideas through hands-on activities that connect to the world around them. Learning is flexible and responsive, allowing children’s interests to shape the direction of each unit.

The IEYC framework

The IEYC framework is built around learning through enquiry, a process that invites children to capture curiosity, explore, make connections, and reflect on what they have discovered.

Four Learning Strands form the foundation of the curriculum:

  • Independence and Interdependence

The children will develop a sense of self, forming friendships, and learning to work together.

  • Communicating

The children will build language and early literacy skills through stories, songs, discussion, and imaginative play, to allow the children to express themselves with confidence and to understand others.

  • Enquiring

The children will explore, observe, and ask questions about how things work, they will be encouraged to problem-solve and explore their creativity.

  • Healthy Living and Physical Wellbeing

The children will be moving, developing their coordination, and understanding how to keep their body and mind healthy.

Core Values

Through these strands, children develop key personal goals; resilience, cooperation, adaptability, enquiry, and respect. These qualities help them grow into confident learners and kind friends. All of these are aligned with RGSG Muscats Core Values.

The IEYC in KG provides an engaging start to school life, helping every child build the skills, attitudes, and understanding needed for a smooth transition into primary education. It nurtures curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning that will stay with them for years to come.
